Why Don’t People WANT To Tithe
If Jesus is suppose to change our life through tithing, then why don’t people want to?

I trust God with every area of my life, but I still struggle to give the 10% that I know is asked of me. It has become a struggle between my heart and head. I drifted further away from tithing when I started receiving phone calls from the church. It just felt too much like bill collectors. This feels too brutally honest to put on here but it broke my heart to receive those calls. Tithing should be between me and God, not between me and the accounting department of my beloved church. I have been on my knees with God about this subject since then and I still struggle with it.
Christy, I know of no scripture that says Jesus will change our lives if we tithe. Jesus only mentions tithing once and he was only refering to it, not teaching on the subject. Giving is the joy we receive for knowing a God who gave up everything for us. It may not change our life, but it will sure bless it when we give cheerfully and for the right reason.
For me, tithing has been the heart of trusting God. I could pray and ask for all kinds of things, but when it came to actually BELIEVING that God would take care of us financially, well, I just wasn’t sure. I decided to put money where my mouth was. The first time I tithed 10 percent was about 25 years ago. Our family has always had more than what we need, and enjoyed many things we’ve wanted! I still struggle with this from time to time, but all I do is remember how God has been faithful to get us through. I remember that he let’s me keep 90 percent and only asks for 10 percent! Wow. Tithing has helped my faith grow more than anything, I think. Try God. He won’t fail you.
When I first started tithing I didn’t quite grasp it but felt it was something I could do to somehow give back to God. I just feel that God has provided everything for me to be able to work and so the income really comes from Him. I’ve also always tithed on my gross income. God just continues to provide in every circumstance and it’s one way that I can consistently give back to Him, even when I’m struggling in other areas. One example early in my tithing life came when we received an escrow check that we weren’t expecting. I was excited and thinking how I was going to spend it! 3 days later I had to have the entire right axle replaced on my car. That unexpected escrow check covered the car repair with about $200 left over. I was very young chronologically and spiritually, and that one event impacted the rest of my life.
God!!….i really struggle here.
