The Koran was written 1359 years ago is it having any effect on our world right now? The age of the document is not the issue it’s the power that it yields in it’s truth or untruth.
ah…. isn’t that the beauty of it…
Who invented the calendar? The Mayan’s? Whoever it was, it was a long time before the bible and that is still pretty relevant..
The relevancy of our 2000+ year old Bible. Is it stillrelevant today? I beleive that it isjust as relevent today as it was back then. Look at the OLD Testament, in exodus (i think) moses was given rules on how to handle several medical types of conditions like contagious diseases, preventng spreadng of diseases, cleanliness of food and body, etc. It hasnt been until the last 200 years that these practices have been put back into practice in mostdeveloped contries and modern medicine. This knowledge is approaching 4500 years old. There is even sections on what types of food to eat to stay healthy. This isvrelevent.
Then there is the faith based relevency. Many people today say that many things in the Old Testament dont apply anymore becauseJesus came to forgiveour sins. However, what they are missng is the fact that in Matt 5:17-18Jesus said I have come not to destroy the law but tofulfill it. He also said that no part or letter of Gods law would be changed until the old heaven and old earth pass away. So when I hear people saying that the homosexual life style isOK and abortion is ok I know that they dont understand what Jesus is teaching. Thesefolks want their cake and eat it to. They want tokeep living destructive lifestyles but proclaim to be a christian and dont see the sin involved. Every BODY sins and we all need forgiveness. The laws and the prophets are there in the OT to give us rules to live by. Most of America’s basic civil laws have been derived from the old testament. If you are a Christian and you accept the Bible asGod’s word wholly, then it iscompletely relevent in todays 21 century world.
To ignore itspower and releventcy is dangerous and damning.
I don’t know how it could be relevant except it is. And it is the only document of its age (or before, or since) that has had the relevance it has. No other philospher, teacher, or other religious figure or their writings has had the impact or relevance of the Bible and no individual has had the impact or relevance on the world like Christ Jesus, bar none.
The Bible is relevant today. Concepts such as Grace are unique to the Bible. I beleive Love is the source of all good and no scientific explanation could define Love. Love is so perfectly described in the Bible by Jesus. I think science answers a lot of questions, people treat it as a religion. I disagree with the comment made on this forum about homosexuals. The church should not be a platform to discriminate against *** people. For many *** people there sexual orientation is not a choice, genetic and biological factors contribute to thier sexual orientation. Hatred and unsubstantiated fear is disguised as discrimination. Sexual immorality is against christianity, however heterosexuals can be just as sexually immoral. I am not condoning homosexuality, however I will not discriminate against a fellow *** brother or sister. If a *** couple is in a commited loving relationship, why should christians disrupt that. Get a life. The bible says to first take the log out of your own eye, before you attempt to take the stick out of your friends eye. Homosexuality mentioned in the Bible was often mentioned in connection with cultural practices. For example Homosexuality was practiced in Caanite pagan festivals in the Old Testament. The Jewish people wanted to differentiate themselves from the Caanites and there “perverse rituals”. Another instances where to do with rape. Bi-sexuality was normal to Romans in the New Testament times. So paul was preaching with in a culture that had a lot of sexual immorality. The homosexuality mentioned in the Bible was talking about immoral sexual behavior that heterosexuals were also responsible for. There is nothing in the Bible mentioning a commited long-term homosexual relationship. The people of the ancient Mediterrenean culture did not fully understand homosexuality as we do now. With the knowlegde we have now proving that sexual orientation in not a choice, but rather core to an individuals identity, it is wrong to discriminate against someone for who they truely are.
